About

Growing up in Kentucky, you get used to hearing about all of the beverages the Commonwealth is known for. But unfortunately, you don’t automatically become a beverage expert as soon as your 21st birthday arrives. I originally started e.e. sips for a class project. At the time, my hope was to showcase some of the amazing beverages available in Kentucky while also learning how to drink like an adult. A couple years later, I’ve decided to return to this project as a way to push myself out of my comfort zone.

Beverages are something where we often stick to what is familiar. For example, we often have a go-to soft drink we get at restaurants (for me, Sprite) or a specific coffee order (Iced Americano). The story of how we develop our ‘comfort sips’ is different for everyone. Some people drink a certain brand of beer because it was the first beer they ever tried while other peoples’ beverage orders are influenced by their family, religion, geography or what have you. The reason we sip what we sip is different for everyone.

While a beverage order at a restaurant or bar can appear rather mundane, I think drink orders provide an opportunity for us to be a little spontaneous. In addition, shaking up your drink order is pretty low risk and commitment compared to other food items. For one, most drinks don’t ‘fill you up.’ Second, ordering a new drink is often more affordable than splurging on a new dinner dish with ingredients you’re unfamiliar with. Third, drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) can be consumed at any time of day. Realizing this, I decided to revive e.e. sips in order to encourage myself (and maybe others) to be a little more spontaneous. Who knows? We might discover something that we really like.

Thank you for sticking around and supporting this page. If you have any drink suggestions, feel free to submit them under the ‘Contact’ page. Otherwise, I hope you’re thirsty.
